The Ultimate Uluwatu Travel Guide

Your 2 Day Uluwatu Travel Guide

Perched on the southwestern tip of Bali’s Bukit Peninsula, Uluwatu is a dream destination for travelers looking for coastal views, world-class surf, and a laid-back yet luxurious vibe. Known for its breathtaking clifftop temples, hidden beaches, and trendy beach clubs, this tropical paradise seamlessly blends adventure with relaxation. No matter your travel style, this 2 day Uluwatu travel guide will have you covered.

How To Get There & Around:

Getting There

The nearest airport is Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpasar, which is about 45 minutes to an hour by car, depending on traffic.

If you're coming from other popular areas in Bali:

  • Seminyak to Uluwatu: Around 1 to 1.5 hours by car, depending on traffic. The route can get congested, especially in the late afternoon.

  • Ubud to Uluwatu: Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, as the drive takes you through Bali’s central and southern regions before reaching the Bukit Peninsula.

Getting Around

Getting around Uluwatu can be a bit challenging, as the area is spread out with winding roads leading to its stunning beaches, clifftop temples, and hidden gems. Unlike more developed parts of Bali, public transportation is virtually nonexistent, so the best way to explore is by hiring a private driver or renting a scooter. While scooters offer flexibility, the roads can be steep and tricky, making a private driver the most convenient and stress-free option, especially if you’re unfamiliar with Bali’s traffic.

Many hotels, including Six Senses Uluwatu, can arrange private transport, ensuring easy access to all the best spots without the hassle of navigating on your own.

Offering breathtaking ocean views, private pool villas, and an emphasis on wellness, the resort provides an indulgent yet serene escape from the everyday. As a guest, you can enjoy holistic spa treatments, immersive cultural experiences, and gourmet dining featuring locally sourced ingredients.

Lunch @ Sundays Beach Club

Head to this exclusive beach club, nestled in a private cove. Enjoy fresh seafood, light bites, and cocktails while lounging on the soft white sand. If you’re feeling adventurous, try stand-up paddleboarding or snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters.

Balinese Healing Ritual @ Six Senses Spa

Indulge in a signature Balinese massage or a holistic healing ritual to melt away any stress and feel completely rejuvenated.

Dinner @ Single Fin

Single Fin is probably one of the most well known spots in Uluwatu – made obvious by the dozens of motorbikes parked outside when you arrive. It’s a multi-story bar/restaurant with seating on a first come-first serve basis. Be sure to make it here before sunset - you’ll feel like you’re watching the sunset from the edge of the world.

Day 2

Breakfast @ Bukit Café

Bukit Café is a quaint coffee shop with delicious food (the avocado toast is a must) and a cozy atmosphere.

Bingin Beach

After breakfast, head to Bingin Beach, a relaxed surfer’s paradise with charming beachside cafés and stunning ocean views. Grab a fresh coconut and enjoy the laid-back vibe.

Lunch @ The Cashew Tree

The Cashew Tree is a popular café near Bingin Beach, serving delicious smoothie bowls, fresh salads, and plant-based delights in a lush garden setting.

Uluwatu Temple & Kecak Fire Dance

No Uluwatu travel guide would be complete without the Uluwatu Temple, perched on the edge of a towering cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean. It’s also known as Pura Luhur Uluwatu and is one of the six key temples believed to be Bali’s spiritual pillars. Be sure to arrive in time for the Kecak Fire Dance at sunset, where dancers perform against a backdrop of crashing waves and golden skies. Also, be aware - the temple is home to some mischievous monkeys, so keep your belongings close!

Dinner @ Ulu Cliffhouse

Ulu Cliffhouse is one of Uluwatu’s most stylish oceanfront venues, featuring delicious food, craft cocktails, and an unbeatable sunset view. The fun atmosphere, live music, and clifftop setting make this the perfect spot to wrap up any day in Uluwatu.

Other Places To Add To Your Uluwatu Travel Guide:

If you have more than 2 days in Uluwatu, be sure to include these in your Uluwatu travel guide:

Surfing at Uluwatu Beach

If you're a surfer, Uluwatu is one of the best places to be. Uluwatu Beach is a popular spot for surfers and has consistent waves no matter what time of year. It's best for intermediate to advanced surfers because of the reef break. Aside from being a great place to surf, you have amazing views to look at.

Padang Padang Beach and Dreamland Beach

Both of these beaches are perfect for swimming, laying out, or surfing.

Yoga at Yoga Searcher Bali

Uluwatu has a lot of yoga studios, but Yoga Searcher Bali is special because of its beautiful setting. It has views of the ocean and garden. The studio has daily classes and retreats for all levels.

The Rock Bar (@ the Ayana Resort and Spa)

The Rock Bar is an iconic spot in Uluwatu. It's on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean and has amazing views. The bar is built into the rock formations, and it's accessible only by a (scenic) ride down the cliffside. They serve great cocktails and food and play live music - it's the ultimate Bali vibe.
