Cavo Tagoo Santorini Review

My husband and I recently spent 4 nights in Santorini and stayed at Cavo Tagoo Santorini. The location, service, property, and room were all top-notch. I don’t think we would’ve changed anything about our stay there! I’m Angela -founder of Allure Travel Co. - here to share my review of Cavo Tagoo Santorini.

Cavo Tagoo Santorini Review

Overview

As soon as we arrived at Cavo Tagoo, we felt relaxed. It’s the perfect mix of luxury and seclusion. Located between Oia and Thira, it’s a great spot to relax and regroup away from the crowds. A picturesque infinity pool provides a full view of the Aegean Sea, which also makes it a popular spot for both daytime and sunset photos. Santorini sunsets are a new level of gorgeous, and Cavo Tagoo Santorini is one of the best places to enjoy them.

The property is newer and trendier than the others in Santorini. Also, there are only 13 rooms, so it’s extremely quiet and relaxing during the day.

Cavo Tagoo Santorini is the sister hotel of Cavo Tagoo Mykonos - one of the most followed hotels on Instagram in the world. Like most of the Santorini hotels, it’s only open from April - October. If you’re planning a trip to Santorini, be sure to book your hotel as far in advance as you can since rooms are limited.

Room Type

We stayed in the Junior Suite with a hot tub. All rooms have either a private hot tub or pool. What I liked about our room was that it felt really new and chic.

Of course, the best part of the rooms at Cavo Tagoo Santorini are the hot tubs or pools. In addition to that, the balconies have an unobstructed view of the Aegean Sea. It’s so peaceful.

Overall, the rooms are really spacious. And the beds are very comfortable.

The mini fridge is stocked with still/sparkling water, soft drinks, and juices. It’s filled twice a day (once during the daytime cleaning service and once during turndown service). You can of course request more items throughout the day if needed.

Lastly, the TVs are smart TVs so you can log in to your streaming service accounts easily. Though, you probably won’t be spending much time watching TV!

Amenities

Cavo Tagoo’s biggest amenity is its pool area. Like I said - it’s a gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the Aegean Sea. There are sunbeds and daybeds available on a first come/first serve basis (though there is no issue getting one since there are only 13 rooms). The whole setting of the pool area at night is such a fun vibe. There is a DJ playing upbeat, poolside music, and the pool is lit up in blue. Did I mention the view?? We lounged here every night - it was so relaxing.

There isn't a spa onsite, but Cavo Tagoo Santorini offers a massage treatment room or in-room massages.

Lastly, the concierge service can organize a variety of different activities for you: yacht excursions, wine tours, etc.

Food

The property has one restaurant. It’s one of the most popular restaurants in Santorini, specifically for the view.

Breakfast is included in the price of your stay, and you submit your requests the night before. You choose the time you want it, and whether you would like to eat it on your balcony or in their restaurant area. Then, you pick which items you want (french toast, omelet, scrambled eggs, pancakes, etc), your coffee/tea choice, and any juices you want. They also include a basket of pastries. Every morning, we ate breakfast on our balcony overlooking the Aegean Sea (in our robes, of course!). It was truly paradise.

For lunch at the pool, you can order from their pool menu. This is going to sound weird, but their burger was one of the best we’ve ever had. We heard two other guests say the same thing! The Chicken Katsu sandwich and Taramás are also amazing.

In the evening, if you’re not looking for a big dinner, you can reserve one of the sun beds and eat from their pool menu. A perk of being a hotel guest is there is no minimum spend for the sun beds (non-guests have a minimum spend). On our last night, we reserved a sun bed in time for the sunset. It was gorgeous!

The restaurant has a great selection of wine and cocktails too.

Price

Santorini is one of the most expensive Greek islands in general, so naturally, hotels are going to be on the more expensive side. Given its amenities and compared to other hotels in the same area (with the same view), I thought Cavo Tagoo was fairly priced.

Service

From the moment our driver greeted us upon pick-up, the service at Cavo Tagoo was exceptional. We pre-arranged our private arrival/departure transportation directly with the hotel.

Once we arrived, I felt like we didn’t lift a finger. The check-in process was quick and personalized, and we booked things for our stay such as spa treatments and dinner reservations.

The concierge toured us around the property, starting with the beautiful pool area. From there, we were given a welcome drink of our choosing and a dish from their open-air kitchen that the chef prepared.

We had a prompt cleaning service every day, and turndown service at night. Additionally, the concierge was available at all hours to arrange transportation, and dinner reservations, or answer any questions.

Throughout our stay, it felt like we were the only guests they were taking care of. They were super attentive, accommodating, and so sweet.

Location

Cavo Tagoo Santorini is perched on the cliffs of Imerovigli, so it’s a little more secluded than Oia. We wanted something more secluded and quiet, but with the amazing caldera view. You really can’t beat the view from Cavo Tagoo. There are never-ending views of the caldera from almost every spot on the property.

The one thing I will say about the location is that it’s super secluded within Imerovigli. So if your highest priority is a hotel where you can easily walk to shops/restaurants, you might want to look at the other hotels in the area. Our top priority was an amazing property with an unbeatable view, and to be as far away from crowds as possible. We still felt like we got the full Santorini experience, and used the property’s transportation (for a fee) to get there. There are restaurants/shops that are about a 20-25 minute walk from the hotel.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I cannot recommend Cavo Tagoo enough. Leave a comment if you have any questions! And if you’re looking for more...be sure to check out the Allure Travel Co. Santorini travel guide.
